Five Solas

Welcome to an important message series called “The 5 Solas,” celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation that changed Christianity forever. Reacting against the abuses and corruption of the Catholic church, Martin Luther nailed his 95 thesis– a list of questions and propositions for debate regarding church theology and practice– to the door of the Castle church in Wittenberg, Germany. What ensued was an uproar within the Church, and ultimately, a reformation of biblical faith and practice.

Out of the Reformation came a set of tenants called the “Five Solas.”  “Sola” is Latan for “only” or “alone.”

Scripture alone.
Faith alone.
Grace alone.
Christ alone.
The glory of God alone.

These core tenants now inform the faith and doctrine of many Protestant churches, including our own.  Join us as explore the significance of these key doctrines.
